Wherever This Will Take Me is a short puzzle platformer where you carry the checkpoint with you. But be careful and don't lose it!

Movement: WASD or arrow keys
Pickup: S or down arrow

NOTE: Unfortunately, there is a bug where you won't see the end scene if you don't take the device with you into the last room.

NOTE 2: In rare occurrences, you can get stuck in the floor. Unfortunately, that is a soft lock and you have to start the game again. Fortunately, the game is pretty short (5 - 10 mins).

The idea for the game was to give the checkpoint a more prominent role. It is not just there to make sure you don't lose progress, it helps you make progress. I tried to incorporate the theme of the jam within the story, which is about people meeting not at the same time but at the same place.

I know there is a lot missing, I simply ran out of time. I would have loved to create more puzzles and explore the idea further. There is also no sound, some visual glitches, and unfortunately, there is also a rare bug where the player can get stuck in the tilemap (I blame Godot's physics engine :P) And I did not even have the time to upload anything but the web build.

But I believe the game is still fun and interesting and I would love if you would give it a try :D

Assets:

All the graphics were made by me during the jam.
I used a character controller that I made myself for a previous game. Otherwise, all code was written by me during the jam.

The game was created with Godot and PyxelEdit

Really loved this game! The colors and cute character really gave it a nice homey feel. I like your take on the checkpoints as you the player carry it with you as you go along. If you are interested in finishing up this game I do audio work and would love to bring some sound to it! Overall really nice game, great work!

Well, I just played Penumbra and Spellwood Tavern. Great job with those! I'll keep your offer in mind :)

Thank you! Best of luck on your future projects :)

Just a quick heads up! it is possible to soft-lock yourself fairly early on just by falling in death and clipping through the ground because of some weird collision

Yeah, I know. I think this happens only rarely and I figured my game would be short enough to not be too much of a bother. But I really need to find a solution for this after the jam. Thanks!

i love the artstyle :> i really see this going places if you had time to add sounds to it too :D

Thank you! Yeah I wish I had better time management 😅
